Owner and CEO of Conversation Station.
After two decades of working in the corporate world, it’s my time to give back. To share all that I know about business, marketing, competitors, consumer trends and knowing exactly which social media platforms speak to each audience.
I understand how each social media platform works. The fast-pace of Twitter, the glossy magazine feel of Instagram and the communities of Facebook.
But I have a confession to make. I’m actually a librarian. I studied to be a librarian many years ago and this skill has been my biggest asset throughout my 20 years in corporate. In the age of Google, you’d think librarians are redundant. Quite the opposite. Where people struggle with information overload, I know how to make sense of the chaos.
I love reading books just as much as I love the snackable 140 character tweet. I find the nugget and make the connections. Because at the heart of it all, I know that everyone in life has a story to tell. We are all storytellers. Librarians know that there isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.
On weekends, you’ll find me in my New Balance shoes out running. Running fuels ideas for my own blog where my running stories help teach me the lessons of life.
In my spare time, I manage the social media platforms for Izanokhanyo Community based project, a creche in Soweto. The reward is knowing that their voice is being heard. I also run a small business selling running kit which helps me understand what it means to be a successful entrepreneur.
If I have a spare minute not flicking through social media, it’s spending time with my family where we find every opportunity to enjoy a good laugh.
Dog lover, people watcher and Sunday afternoon snoozer.
But most of all, social media fan.
